Your Overnight Curl Routine

Find quick answers to the most common questions about our product.

Step 1 — Place the DreamWave Ribbon

Start with dry or slightly damp hair — not soaking wet.

Part your hair down the middle so both sides are even.

Place the DreamWave Ribbon on top of your head like a headband, with the clip at the crown.

Adjust it so it feels snug but comfortable, with both ends hanging evenly on each side.

  • Lightly damp hair helps the curls set better.
  • If your hair is smooth or frizz-prone, apply a small amount of leave-in or serum for extra grip.

Key rule: comfort and balance.

If the ribbon feels stable and comfortable now, it will stay in place overnight.

Step 2 — Wrap your hair around the ribbon

Take the left side of your hair and wrap it around the ribbon, away from your face, mirroring the right side.

  • Use the same section size as step 2 for balanced curls.
  • Keep the tension equal and comfortable.
  • Once fully wrapped, secure the ends with a scrunchie to prevent slipping overnight.

Key rule: symmetry.

Match the right side exactly — uneven wrapping leads to uneven curls.

Step 3 — Continue wrapping until all hair is secured

Keep wrapping your hair evenly around the ribbon until the full length is secured.

  • Make sure the hair lies flat against the ribbon, not twisted.
  • If you have long or thick hair, guide the ends neatly so they don’t stick out.
  • Secure the bottom with a scrunchie to lock everything in place.

Don’t rush this step.

Loose ends = frizz and uneven curls. Clean wrapping = smoother, longer-lasting results.

Step 4 — Secure the ribbon around your head

Bring both wrapped sides to the front of your head and secure the ribbon with a bow or knot on your forehead.

  • Keep it snug but comfortable so it stays in place overnight.
  • You can also tie it at the back, but this may cause irritation while sleeping.
  • Check that both sides are evenly wrapped and feel secure.

Key rule: comfort over tightness.

If it’s uncomfortable now, it won’t get better overnight.

Step 5 — Sleep and let the curls set

Go to sleep with the ribbon securely in place and let the curls set naturally overnight.

  • Wear a satin bonnet to reduce friction, keep everything in place, and slow down moisture loss so your hair stays hydrated while setting.
  • Sleep on a satin pillowcase to minimise friction, prevent frizz, and protect both your curls and your skin.
  • Avoid adjusting the ribbon during the night.

Key rule: protect and secure.

Less friction, better hydration, better results.

Step 6 — Unwrap and enjoy your curls

In the morning, gently remove the scrunchies and unwrap your hair from the ribbon. Do not pull — let the curls fall naturally.

  • Thanks to the satin bonnet, your hair stayed protected all night: less friction, better moisture retention, and everything stayed in place. This is why curls look smoother, shinier, and more defined instead of dry or frizzy.
  • No heat means no stiffness or damage — curls feel soft and natural, not styled.
  • Use your fingers to separate lightly if needed. No brushing.

Why this works (and why customers love it):

Sleeping comfortably while styling is the biggest win. You wake up ready, with healthier-looking curls, without effort or heat damage.

Key rule: gentle finish.

Let the routine do the work — don’t fight the curls.
